Nursery Times

Please remember that Nursery starts promptly at 8.45am and 12.15pm. You need to make sure you pick your children up on time at 11.45am and 3.15pm. For your child to make the best progress and feel happy it is very important that your child arrives at school on time every day.

If you wish your child to attend our Nursery starting September 2018 please contact the school as we still have places available.

Collecting your child

Your child must be brought and collected each day by an adult. If you (parent or guardian) are unable to collect your child, you need to inform the Nursery to let them know who is collecting them. In addition to this can you please ensure that your child's contact list is up to date, to ensure a smooth release at home time.

Nursery Absences

It is important that your child attends Nursery everyday as it provides a routine and develops your child’s learning. If your child is unwell please contact the school office before 9:30am on the 1st day of the illness.

Clothing

Our school uniform colours are navy blue jumpers/cardigans and grey trousers/skirts. Please remember to try and dress your child in clothing which is manageable for them to fasten. Children should bring a coat everyday as we will be outside enjoying the different seasons.

Reading

In F1 sharing stories is a very important part of our sessions. We do try and encourage this to continue at home, as we know that children enjoy sharing their experiences at school with their families. Your child does need to bring a book bag to school each day as the books will be changed daily. At King Edward Nursery children take part in a high-quality communication, language and listening development programme designed to promote every child’s learning through a play-based approach. We will have a 'Family Story Session' where parents can come into the class at the end of Tuesday's sessions. The sessions start at 11:30am for the morning nursery and 3pm for the afternoon nursery. It is a lovely opportunity for you to share a book with your child.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Super Star Reader

If your child reads 3 or more times a week and it is recorded in their reading diary they will earn a special stamp each week.

Phonics

We use a phonic teaching programme called Letters and Sounds to support your child’s learning. Phase One of Letters and Sound is aimed at Nursery children. It concentrates on developing speaking and listening skills and lays the foundation for phonics work within Reception.

You can support your children in learning the Phase 2 sounds, please ensure you are saying the sounds correctly to aid children with their ability to blend the lettters to make words.
